The Erie Land Bank is continuing efforts to transform vacant and distressed properties across the city, with a focus on rehabilitating homes and placing them back into responsible local ownership.
According to an announcement on July 29, the Land Bank is currently processing properties acquired through the judicial tax sale system. The work includes completing title research, assessing property conditions, and determining which homes can be rehabilitated and returned to productive use.
Once those evaluations are complete, the properties will be made available to qualified developers with the experience and financial resources needed to carry out rehabilitation projects.
Land Bank officials stated that the goal extends beyond simply selling homes, focusing instead on ensuring properties are restored, maintained, and reintegrated into Erie’s neighborhoods.
Developers selected to purchase Land Bank properties will be required to submit a rehabilitation plan, project budget, and timeline.
The properties will be sold with development requirements designed to ensure the work is completed and the homes do not return to a state of vacancy.
The Erie Land Bank is encouraging local contractors, small-scale developers, neighborhood investors, and others with proven rehabilitation experience to monitor upcoming property opportunities. Information on available properties, application requirements, and property tours will be released as homes are prepared for disposition.
The initiative supports the Land Bank’s mission of “Keeping Erie Homes in Erie Hands” by preventing severely distressed properties from being acquired by out-of-state investment firms and instead placing them with qualified local developers committed to revitalizing Erie neighborhoods.
