Code Enforcement Professionals of Idaho (CEPI) Annual Conference 2016
Safeguard Properties’ community initiatives department was honored to participate in the 2016 Code Enforcement Professionals of Idaho (CEPI) Conference. This marked the first visit to Idaho for the department.
Michael Halpern, director of community initiatives, conducted a training class on the mortgage servicing industry and provided innovative solutions for cities. Topics discussed included the foreclosure process, the industry’s best practices for maintaining vacant properties and the difference between pre-sale and post-sale status.
Halpern also described Safeguard’s long-standing partnership with various national and state organizations that allows this type of education. A current partnership with the American Association of Code Enforcement (AACE) was highlighted and attendees were encouraged to apply for the annual conference scholarship offered by Safeguard. The conference takes place this October in New Orleans, La.
Attendees shared their ongoing frustration in identifying and communicating with the proper entities and individuals regarding maintenance issues that can arise at a particular property. Compliance Connections was highlighted as a viable tool for determining a direct point of contact in regards to a vacant property, opening the lines of communication between cities and the mortgage servicing industry and expediting the resolution of properties that are out of compliance.
Attendees discussed prior successes through email and telephone communication with Safeguard and welcomed the added efficiencies provided by Compliance Connections. They looked forward to utilizing this new tool thereby saving valuable time and limited city resources. Open communication, especially at the onset of vacancy and abandonment, is critical to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.
Safeguard congratulates the city of Boise for hosting a wonderful conference. Safeguard would like to extend its appreciation to the officers and members of CEPI for including us in this year’s training and look forward to working together in the future to better protect communities throughout Idaho.
The CEPI Conference was held in Boise, ID.
