Absecon Considers Fixing Blighted Properties Making Owners Pay
Shore News Today published an article discussing a proposal to create an ordinance in Absecon, New Jersey, that would allow the city to place liens on abandoned properties once it has brought them up to code. If approved, the ordinance would differ from similar ones in existence across the country by allowing for significant work to be completed on properties that have fallen into disrepair.

Oyster Bay Bans Use of Plywood to Cover ?Zombie? Houses
Newsday published an article discussing a new ordinance adopted by the Town of Oyster Bay, New York, that bans the use of plywood for boarding up foreclosed homes and mandates the use of clear, impact resistant polycarbonate. Additionally, the legislation requires a $25,000 bond on residential vacant properties that have had a “foreclosure action” commenced, without a requirement to register the property with the municipality.
