Memo 1160 - Hazard Claims Changes
The Hazard Claims Department recently began utilizing a regional structure for contractors when handling Estimates and Insurance Settlements. Regional coordinators are now assigned to specific state splits and responsible to assist contractors in a variety of issues they may encounter. You are required to keep in touch with your regional coordinators for all bids and scope verifications. Communication is key! Failure to keep your regionals updated on late orders will result in fewer bids, and in turn, fewer approvals.
Bidding requirements will also be changing, as explained below.
Example Bid: Bid to repair drywall in living room. $300.00. (This is incorrect) Correct bid: Bid to repair 12x7 area of water-damaged ceiling in the living room caused by a freeze-damaged water line. $300.00. The HUD guidelines are posted on our website for viewing. We ask that all contractors read and remain up-to-date on the guidelines to help gain knowledge when submitting bids. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your regional coordinator. Regional Coordinator maps are available on the contractor web for reference and are also attached.
