As
you know, we have added this memo feature to the Contractor Web site to provide
information on a variety of issues. These memos are not intended to overwhelm
you with a flood of news but just to ensure that our contractors are getting
up-to-date information on significant issues. In addition to the new memos that
will regularly appear at log-in, all old memos will be archived and accessible
via the links at the top of the page.
We welcome any
comments or questions regarding the memo feature.

Winterization System Shut Down Changes

Memo 1115 Winterization System Shut Down Changes
If you recall, prior to the start of
winterization season 2003-2004, Safeguard issued Memo #1056 Winterization 2003-2004 (10/06/03),
which required the performance of winterization shut-downs pursuant to ML 97-31
for all properties with radiant heat systems. This practice was
established to assure that properties were protected from freezing when radiant
winterization per 2002-10 specifications could not be completed for the
allowable.
Now that the 2004-2005 winter season has come to an end and the risk of freeze
damage is no longer a significant issue, the 97-31 shut-down practice should be
discontinued until September 1, 2005. We will continue to submit
bids to winterize per the 2002-10 guidelines in year-round areas.
However, we will not perform the shut-down actions.
Please note that there may be clients who will continue to require the system
shutdown, so please pay close attention to the instructions in your work orders.
Otherwise, this change will be effective immediately.
Please contact your regional coordinator with any questions or concerns.
