As you know, we have added this memo feature to the Contractor Web site to provide information on a variety of issues. These memos are not intended to overwhelm you with a flood of news but just to ensure that our contractors are getting up-to-date information on significant issues. In addition to the new memos that will regularly appear at log-in, all old memos will be archived and accessible via the links at the top of the page.

We welcome any comments or questions regarding the memo feature.

Memo 1126 Maintenance Maid Services
To: All REO Contractors
From: REO Department

We are issuing this memo simply to reemphasize to our REO contractors how vital it is that all REO properties are maintained in marketable condition, from the time we complete the initial services order until the property's sale closes.

Safeguard requires that all REO contractors check and refresh the maid service every time that a listed property is visited. This is part of the ongoing initial services order. We expect our contractors to perform a quick wipe-down at each visit to assure that the property stays in the broom-swept condition required for all REO properties. Visits where you are expected to complete this re-check and refresh include (but are not necessarily limited to) recurring grass cut orders, resecures, etc.

If a situation occurs that will require another complete, top-to-bottom performance of the initial maid service, Safeguard will accept bids for this service. As a general rule, however, it's our experience that if the maid service was done properly the first time, a quick dusting/sweeping/wipe-down will usually restore the property to appropriate marketable condition.

If you have any questions about this or any other requirement for maintenance of REO properties, please contact your regional coordinator.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.
