Memo 5019 INSPI-2

To: All SPI Inspectors
From: Robert Klein
Memo 5019 INSPI-2

In November, SPI announced the development and anticipated release of a new INSPI program. The programming has been completed, and INSPI-2 was released to 30 test users in early January. The test users have provided critical assistance in identifying bugs in the programming and enhancements for use in the field. With their help, we have successfully identified a number of issues and enhanced the program to be more user-friendly. We are now preparing to release INSPI-2 to all of our inspectors in March.

The INSPI-2 release is web-based and will offer many new features and enhancements, including the following:

  • Wireless connectivity capabilities, through either cellular transmissions or a wireless network, allowing exchange of information (including new orders, completed orders, and follow-up requests) throughout the day
  • Subcontractor management, to allow you to assign, track, and manage work through your subcontractors
  • Subcontractor tracking and reporting, to allow you to review performance all the way down to zip code level
  • Enhanced reporting to provide more tools to help you manage your business
  • Easier and faster updating to the newest version of the software
  • Centralized database stored on Safeguard's web servers instead of the user's desktop; allowing for faster data transfer
  • The ability to work offline when connecting to the Internet is not possible
  • Easy access to SPI Memos and the INSPI2 Manuals

INSPI-2 will run on desktops, laptops, tablet PCs, and Pocket PCs, as long as they are running on Windows 2000, Windows CE, or any later version of Windows.  However, INSPI-2 will not run on a Palm device.  The technical requirements for each piece of equipment are listed on Memo 5017.

In addition to technical advances, INSPI-2 has been enhanced with more fields and questions to better serve the needs of our clients and help reduce the necessity of inspector rechecks. Whenever discrepancies are reported (color, building type, garage type, etc.), a request for verification and/or supporting photos will be displayed immediately (on the pocket PC, laptop, or tablet PC) while you are updating the field. SPI billers will review the photos and compare them to previous photos, thus eliminating the need to send follow-up emails.

The user will be able to receive and send new and completed orders continuously throughout the day (while connected to the Internet via wireless technology). This will speed up processing time and increase order volume to the inspectors. The inspector may even receive new orders in the zip codes that they are working that day, reducing the need to drive back to recently visited areas for only one or two orders.

These are just a few of the enhancements made thus far. INSPI-2 was developed by Safeguard specifically to address our clients and our business needs and to improve workflow for our inspectors. We look forward to incorporating more feedback from all of our inspectors. Please contact Team Leader Dany Antonios at extension 1291 to begin the transition from INSPI to INSPI-2.

Thank you for your continued cooperation in helping us to safeguard our clients' interests.
