Robert Klein provided an overview of Safeguard Properties stating, "we are the eyes and ears for our clients, around the country, for vacant homes."  The nation's largest for-profit field services company operates in all 50 states and U.S. Territories on behalf of mortgage servicers and provides regular training for 11,000 vendors in policy changes, regulations and techniques for ongoing skill development.  The community initiatives department works with elected officials and code enforcers to share information and combat neighborhood blight.

Marcus Renner presented Green Opportunities (GO) as a community based social enterprise for green collar job training in North Carolina. GO is concentrating on opportunities to employ more people.  The focus is on foreclosures, pre-forclosures and getting REOs ready for resale, and targeting a certain population to do all of the preservation work.
