Community Initiatives Doubles Outreach in Kansas

The community initiatives department recently had the opportunity to visit the Kansas City area for two independent conference presentations.  At the Kansas City Metro Association of Permit Technicians (KCMAPT) 2012 Fall Training Session in Oak Grove, Community Initiatives Director Michael Halpern conducted a class entitled Community Partnerships for Code Enforcement. Halpern was followed by code enforcement veteran Doug Leeper, formerly of Riverside County, San Bernardino and Chula Vista, CA.

Several weeks later, Halpern was privileged to address the Kansas Association of Code Enforcement (KACE) at their Fall Conference in Lawrence.  The organization was celebrating their 20th anniversary. Halpern's presentation was preceded by that of another code enforcement veteran, John Benisch, who is the code enforcement manager for the City of St Charles, MO, as well as the president of the Missouri Association of Code Enforcement (MACE) and first vice president of the American Association of Code Enforcement (AACE).

Both presentations afforded Halpern the opportunity to address these organizations for the first time, and to reach audiences largely unfamiliar with servicing industry procedures and protocols.  With attendees voicing continued frustration at the inability to identify and communicate with servicers, the demonstration of Compliance Connections® was well received. Several attendees at both presentations had prior experiences with Compliance Connections® and voiced their appreciation for not only the resolution that resulted but for the overall effort to bring greater transparency and open direct line of communication.

Safeguard's Founder and Chairman Robert Klein and the community initiatives department would like to thank both organizations for the opportunity to share knowledge, offer resources and build partnerships. Additionally, we would like to once again extend our congratulations to KACE for 20 years of service to the code community and our best wishes for continued success.

Finally, we would like to thank John Benisch and the entire board of directors at AACE for including us in the curriculum for their upcoming conference. We are proud to go above and beyond in our support of AACE as we work together to protect communities across the country.
